Hi, I’m Abellona U (he/she). I’m currently a medical student at University of Cambridge. Prior to the medical degree, I did a PhD in Clinical Medicine Research following an MRes in Biomedical Research and BSc in Biology, all at Imperial College London. My PhD was on finding metabolites in blood or urine that may be used for detecting hepatocellular carcinoma (cancer of liver cells) earlier.

I grew up in Hong Kong. My native language is Cantonese. I also speak Mandarin et un peu français. I have a podcast @gmgscience in collaboration with @keith.poonsir. I take photographs (@cast.stills), sometimes draw and occasionally paint. I play (in decreasing order of proficiency) the piano, clarinet, drums, acoustic guitar and sax. I sail and I hike.
